Psalms 91:15 says, “He shall call upon me and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honour him.”
My deficits are no match for our God’s abundant supply, and my cries find a home in His ear. The verse assures us that God hears our prayer and can actively involve himself in times of hardship and troublesome situations. He has the power to rescue us and provides comfort and peace when in a difficult circumstance. The verse serves as a reminder that when we admit that we are in dire need of God’s assistance and that we lack the ability and capacity to assist ourselves, God will step up assist us and make his power accessible for us.
When we know we can handle anything on our own, we typically don’t seek for assistance. We handle the situation ourselves. We only cry for help when we know there’s no way out after struggling and exerting every means to survive, and when we run out of resources or strength, we begin to grapple and raise our hands up, a sign of surrender and calling for help. The phrase which states, “He shall call upon me and I will answer him,” is an assurance that he longs for us to call upon him, involve him, and he will be with us in trouble and even honour our plea for help.
In another verse Psalms 50:15 “ And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee and thou shalt glorify me.”
It portrays God’s nature in a wonderful way: He is present, caring, and a deliverer. We ought to always take solace in the knowledge that God hears our cries for assistance, provides us with His presence throughout difficult times, and eventually frees us from suffering. God is waiting for us to surrender everything to him and lift our hand and call for help. For many years God has been faithful to his words every time I call for him, he is always there. Proven and tested.
